Optical Properties database containing HDR and BRDF data for over 200 materials

Description: SOC is continuously developing and expanding on its off-the-shelf library of optical properties data for a variety of materials. This library can be purchased in whole or in part at considerable savings over individual measurements. For more information on our database and its contents contact SOC. You can also download the Optical Properties Database brochure.

FAQs regarding the database, and information on using the databases in 3D sensor simulation:

  • Spectral Reflectance Data for (52) rocks, (29) soils, (28) vegetation types, (41) construction materials, (38) paints, and (12) fabrics from 0.3 to 25 microns.
  • Hemispherical, Directional, Diffuse and Specular
  • Bidirectional Reflectance (BRDF) at visible, mid and long Infrared wavelengths
  • Complete solution for visual and infrared radiance simulation.

Features & Benefits:

  • Most rock and soil samples representative of the Southwest regions of the United States.
  • Included in the collection of Construction materials are asphalt roadway as well as the white and yellow paint striping put down on asphalt roadways.
  • Various fabric materials taken from woodland and desert camo Battle Dress Uniforms (BDU’s) and soon to be updated with materials from Army Combat Uniforms (ACU’s).
  • Additional materials recently added to the database include various plastic cover parts of landmines.
  • Most plant spectra data collected on living plants as opposed to pieces cur from living plants.
